Setting Out

2 07 2012

It has been a crazy, exhausting, and great weekend.  Outside of a morning spent at Caleb’s final baseball games for the season, we spent the weekend moving.  Our belongings that are going with us to Hawaii are shipped and on their way.  We have sold, given away, and tossed out everything else.  With much help from my mom, my sister, a family friends, and our neighbors, we cleaned out the parsonage and left Birch Tree on Sunday afternoon.

Let me reflect on Sunday morning a bit.  First Baptist Church of Birch Tree really loved on us.  Their support and encouragement made it hard to say good bye.  To top it all off, we were able to celebrate the salvation of one and welcome a new church member.  It was truly an awesome last day.

Now, we are in Springfield, MO visiting family for a week. On Saturday, we fly out (with one-way tickets) to Hawaii.  It is still a little overwhelming to think of the task ahead, but I know that the Lord is in control and I cannot wait to see what He will do.

In the meantime, please pray:

  • For Caleb.  Moving for Caleb means saying good bye to his school, his friends, his ball team, his pets, and his grandparents.  This is very, very difficult for him.  Please pray that he makes friends quickly in Hawaii and that his transition is a smooth one.
  • For FBC Birch Tree as they move on into a new chapter.  Pray for their Pastor Search Committee and for the man God has prepared to be their pastor.  Pray that they find each other in good time.
